DECODING THE RECENT ADVANCEMENTS IN BRAIN SURGERY Minimally access brain surgery technique uses specialised endoscopes with high resolution video cameras to perform surgery of the brain. This technique can be used to diagnose and treat neurological conditions such as brain tumours, hydrocephalus (fluid build-up in the brain) and movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease. As long as the goal of the procedure is not compromised, it will always offer something extra than open surgery, such as a better quality of life throug

Pain in the neck!  Is not just a common idiom but in reality a very common and painful condition.  The other fact is it is being increasingly seen in otherwise healthy looking young individuals. The common causes are  muscle spasm ,  spondylosis  and  prolapsed intervertebral discs. Why is it commoner now? The probable reason would lie in the lifestyle and work profile of the people. Add to this the stress of completing assignments on time, travel, improper time and unhealthy food. This lifestyle finally does take a toll on our mental and physical health. No wonder we are seeing young patients visiting hospitals with cardiac problems, hypertension, strokes, diabetes, depression all these are in some way or the other linked to our lifestyles. Brain Bleed - A blessing in disguise!

22 year old working at an I.T Firm experienced severe headache and fell unconscious on a normal working day at her workplace. She was then admitted to a nearby hospital in the same unconscious state. After a primary diagnosis she was shifted to Well Known hospital for further management. A CT Scan was done upon admission which showed bleeding in the Left Parietal Region. an emergency cerebral angiography was done to detect the cause of the sudden bleed in an apparently normal young girl.
